How long does it usually take for urgent legislation to be passed after a presidential election?|||it all depends on what the incoming president consideres urgent, in some cases laws are made in the form of executive orders (bypassing congress, but on things that congress does not regulate, ie no EO's on tax and such), which come in to effect usually immediately, so the president can issue one the same week he enters the office. the way of going through congress takes longer, but most laws need to go this way. so, after inaguration, the president has 2 options EO, or going through congress.
