Doesn't hate crime legislation basically say that we value certain people more than others?

Regardless of the intent, murder is murder. Why should certain groups gets special legislation to protect them more than others? Also, it seems that it's only a "hate crime" when it's committed by a white person, what's up with that?|||It is thought control young Jedi. There is a huge difference between someone who kills someone by running a stop sign, and someone who kills randomly and carefully plans the murder. One is manslaughter and the other is murder.





We give consideration to things like self defense, mental impairment, crime committed when someone is out of control for some reason.





Murder isn't the only hate crime. Painting swastikas on a Synagogue is a hate crime. You can be charged with a hate crime no matter what your race is. It is the act of targeting a person for their race, sex, or religion, and no other reason that makes it a hate crime.

It is all about intent.|||The laws for Hate Crime are targeted at the people who always get hurt by others. So yes in a way it is special treatment only because other groups can't keep to themselves and not be stupid. If people learned to behave we wouldn't have these.
