My understading is it will be similar in most contries the agreed to the benrne convention. In the U.S., you can read about copyright and the official government site:

What I think you will find however is that simply giving credit as mentioned above does not consitutute license for you to use copyright images. There are only cerrtain fair use applications in which you can use a copyright image legally without permission from the copyright holder.
