What kind of legislation do you have about discipling your child?

In Australia the federal government are talking about passing legislation against smacking your children. They are spending large amount of money on advertising campaign. How do you feel about government telling you how to raise your children. This is not aimed at parents who abuse or bet their kids but everyday paddle on the bottom.|||In Minnesota, the law says any NON-ACCIDENTAL injury to a child constitutes "malicious punishment." I think that is a very reasonable standard.

I have heard any people say it's against the law to spank in th US, but they are wrong. Every state, except Minnesota, says parents may physically discipline children using "reasonable force." The language is too vague. I am unaware of any statute that defines "reasonable force."|||Here is our legislation on it in Oklahoma:

OKLAHOMA

Parents/teachers/other persons can use ordinary force as a means of discipline, including but not limited to spanking, switching, or paddling. 21 Sec. 844.[Cr.] Criminal penalty for using unreasonable force upon a child under 18. 10

Sec. 7115.[Cr.]|||In the USA we are not allowed to paddle our children. I don't like that the government in interfering with how we raise kids..I believe that is why so many are running ramp id. I believe that a child should know the boundaries and when they knowingly disobey them then they should be disciplined. Sometimes a time out just doesn't cut it. The Bible demands respect of parents, the government says that if you don't like what your parent says call us and we will take care of it.|||That's stupid. This is why my husband and I are going back to Saudi Arabia is becasue it's legal there for you to hit your children. They also hit your children in school if the children don't listen to their teacher. In the USA children can cry abuse if they're spanked by their parents.|||Amarica is pretty much the same way. It's not criminal YET to spank your child but i see it comming. In the state i live in you can be tosed into jail for taking a tv away from your child for punishment IF it was in their room. they call it emotional abuse. It's crazy. I would NEVER EVER beat my child but if he needs a butt spanking then he is going to get it. The GOV needs to but out of how we raise our kids. Unless it is REAL abuse (kid is walking around with bruses and stuff)|||I think it is none of the gov't's business.
