In New York State legislation about property tax for senior citizens with less than 40.000 a year?

On WETM, in November of this year I heard about a proposed legislation that would make senior citizens with less than 40.000 a year be totally exempt from paying property taxes.|||You said it yourself..it is a PROPOSED bill.

Even if it did happen, by the time it is said and done the House will have had to raise taxes elsewhere to cover this tax exemption and that means ticking off "someone" else who will ultimately say "no we don't want OUR taxes raised".

NO ONE wants to pay taxes no matter what it is for, even it it means a .1% increase for something like this. You say taxes and people act like there is wide spread devastation across the land.|||No, in 40 thousand years it's going to be a legislation that favors senior citizens in New York.|||Yes, they are talking about it. Do you think they can survive without your tax money? Meanwhile they talk and you pay.

"New York relies on local property taxes as its primary funding source for public education. This chapter looks at the impact of New York property taxes on tax fairness and school funding, and evaluates options for property tax reform" Read it here:
